Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State don lay di foundation for Aviation Village, wey go serve as residential quarters for airport workers inside di state.

Di groundbreaking ceremony, wey happun for di Victor Attah International Airport on Monday, na part of di governor’s vision to expand di aviation ecosystem and make Akwa Ibom di aviation hub for di Gulf of Guinea.

Di governor tok say di first phase of di project go include residential quarters for workers from 12 parastatals, while di second phase go add aviation school and oda facilities. Eno promise say di project go dey completed within 12 months, and different contractors go handle di construction to ensure quick delivery.

Apart from di Aviation Village, di governor also announce plans to establish Elderly People’s Home and Medical Village for doctors wey dey work for Ibom Specialist Hospital. E tok say di hospital go partner with foreign technical organisations to ensure di facility dey run as e originally dey conceptualise.

Eno also explain di recent leadership changes for Ibom Power Company, saying di aim na to make di company dey profitable. Him assure di airport staff say di government go pay all dia entitlements to show commitment to worker welfare.

Di Aviation Village, wey dey sit on 15.072 hectares of land, go get 62 two-bedroom flats, 55 three-bedroom flats, primary school, and oda facilities, according to di state Commissioner for Housing, Otuekong Bassey.

Stakeholders, including Captain Mfon Udom of Ibom Air and Comrade Ukeme Utuk of di National Union of Air Transport Employees, praise di project, talk say e go solve accommodation issues, bring staff closer to di airport, and improve service delivery.
