At least 86 people wey die for di fuel tanker explosion wey happen over di weekend for Dikko junction, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State, don dey recovered. Out of di bodies, 80 don already get mass burial.

Di Director General of Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Alhaji Abdullahi Baba Arah, confirm on Sunday say dem don bury 80 victims for a single grave close to Dikko Primary Health Care Centre.

What caused di fuel tanker explosion

Reports show say di tanker, wey carry petroleum product, start to leak early Saturday morning. Later, e explode after some residents rush go scoop di spilled fuel.

Di NSEMA boss tok say di agency work with Gurara Local Government officials and volunteers to conduct di burial wey start Saturday evening and finish by midnight. Five of di bodies dem hand over to family members, while one person die later for di health centre.

E also reveal say 55 people wey suffer injury from di explosion dey receive treatment for hospital.

Meanwhile, di Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, don describe di incident as painful and a big loss. During im visit to di scene, e condemn di recklessness of drivers wey use di area. Di governor don ban trucks and heavy vehicles from using one-way route pass di Dikko bridge, insisting say dem must use di U-turn under di bridge.

E call on di Federal Road Safety Corps to station officers for di area to make sure di rule dey enforced and urge transport unions to cooperate.

Di governor still beg di Federal Government to speed up di Minna-Suleja road project wey don dey cause plenty wahala and loss of lives.

E commend di emergency response teams, fire service, road safety officials, and transport unions wey help manage di aftermath of di explosion. E also direct doctors from Minna hospitals to join di medical team treating di injured for Suleja General Hospital.
