Dem no small pass 25 people wey don die for Sokoto State because of cholera outbreak wey affect three Local Government Areas, from a total of 1,160 cases wey dem record.

Di State Commissioner of Health, Asabe Balarabe, talk dis one on Monday as she dey address news people. She explain say di state dey currently treat 15 active cases of di disease for Sokoto North, Silame, and Kware LGAs.

She talk say di 15 cases na confirmed cholera through laboratory tests. Di commissioner also yarn say out of di 1,160 cases wey dem record, 25 people don already die.

She add say rescue teams dey work with di state government to manage di outbreak and stop di disease from spreading further. As part of di response, di state government don buy and distribute free drugs to 18 LGAs to control di spread.

Di commissioner still appreciate di number of women, especially pregnant women, wey dey come health centres for consultations and pregnancy tests. She, however, point out say di health sector dey face challenges like old infrastructure and lack of resources wey don affect di sector for di past eight years.

She express hope say Governor Ahmad Aliyu go work to improve di health sector. Di governor don already recruit 864 nurses and midwives to address manpower shortages for state public health facilities. Plans dey ground to recruit more staff to replace those wey don die or retire.

Reports from di affected areas, like Bazza and Gidadawa Communities for Sokoto Metropolis, show say some victims don die while others dey receive treatment for Primary Health Centres in Bazza and Kofar Rini clinics, all for Waziri B Ward of Sokoto North LGA.
