Reigning Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner Ivory Coast

A total of 15 different countries have won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with some of them winning it on multiple occasions.

The Pharaohs of Egypt are the most successful side in AFCON history, having won the tournament seven times, with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon winning five times and the Black Stars of Ghana four times.

The Elephants of Ivory Coast and the Super Eagles of Nigeria come fourth and fifth respectively on the all-time AFCON winners list, with three trophies each.

The winner of the inaugural AFCON tournament was Egypt, who defeated Ethiopia 4-0 in Khartoum, Sudan after extra time in 1957.

Ahead of AFCON 2025, Ivory Coast are the reigning champions; they defeated Nigeria 2-1 in Abidjan, with Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller netting for the Ivorians, while William Troost-Ekong scored the only goal for the Super Eagles.
