GRID SHUT DOWN: UNION DON SHUT DOWN NAIJA
Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN dey inform public say Labour Union don shut down national grid, wey dun cause blackout for whole country. Dem shut down the grid for around 2:19am dis morning, June 3, 2024.
Around 1:15am, Benin Transmission Operator under Independent System Operations unit of TCN report say dem pursue all the operators wey dey there comot, beat staff wey no gree comot which do make some people wound as dem dey pursue dem comot for the control room. As supervision or control no dey, na so The Benin Area Control Center take shut down.
Other transmission substations wey Labour Union dun shut down na the ones wey dey Ganmo, Benin, Ayede, Olorunsogo, Akangba, and the Osogbo Transmission Substations. Dem come open some other transmission line because of the things wey the labour union dey do.
On the side wey dey generate power, dem come dey force generating stations make dem shut down some of their units.
Because of the force, the Jebba Generating Station come shut down one of the unit while three other substation follow shut down on high frequency. The sudden force cutting of the electricity come cause high frequency and system instability, wey eventually do make the national grid shut down for 2:19am.
But around 3:23am, TCN start to try to recover the grid. Dem come try to use the Shiroro Substation connect transmission lines wey go carry bulk electricity to the Katampe Transmission Substation. But the situation come be say the Labour Union still dey obstruct grid recovery for the whole Nigeria.
We go continue to try how we go fit recover and stabilise the grid wey go restore the normal transmission of electricity across the country.
