On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, di union announce sey them don put di protest on hold after meeting with some government representatives at di office of di Secretary to di Governor of di Federation in Abuja on Monday, February 3, 2025.
Before now, telecom companies been appeal sey them go make 100 per cent increase in tariffs due to di bad economy.

According to di commission, them defend di agenda sey di reason for di 50 per cent increase na due to unstable foreign exchange and anergy expenses.
In one statement wey them release, di commission talk sey this adjustment dey in line with their mandate under di Nigerian Communications Act, 2003 wey de ensure sey financial part of di telecom sector dey sustainable.
NLC rejects NCC demands, threatens nationwide protest
After them make their demands known, di NLC rejects am sey e too high. Them come suggest sey make them reduce am to 5 per cent or else them go protest.
Di NLC condemn di hike sey e dey insensitive and unjustifiable and e fit cause more wahala for Nigerians.
After di meeting with National Administrative Council, di union president, Joe Ajaero still repeat wetin him don already talk about di demands.
Ajaero talk sey, “After we don talk well, we reach di following agreement: NAC don totally reject di 50 per cent telecom tariffs hike because e dey too harsh for citizens. Therefore e dey condemn di decision wey NCC take to approve di increase”.
“This decision dey insensitive, unjustifiable and na direct attack on Nigerian workers and di general populace wey don already dey suffer under bad economic hardship wey some government policies don cause”.
NLC halts nationwide protest over telecom tariff hike
To show their level of seriousness, di union been call on all Nigerians to join in di nationwide rally wey suppose happen today, Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
Following di Monday meeting, NLC don talk sey them go out di rally on hold until further notice.
According to Ajaero, Government don agree to set up a large committee wey go review di tariff structure.
This committee go dey composed of five representatives from both sides and them go submit their findings within two weeks.
